The Things Customers Say...

  • Today I was taking orders in the drive-thru area of our fast food restaurant. After taking one of the customer's order he pulls up to the window where I can greet him face to face. He is a Hispanic man. Very friendly too. But this is what happens next...
  • Me: Oh hi there sir, your total came out to be $11.38.
  • Him: Alrighty! *big smile and everything and hands me the money*
  • Me: Thank you. *turns around to take another order and get him his change*
  • Him: I knew you were Asian!
  • Me: ...Sorry, what was that?
  • Him: I knew you were Asian...not because you have an accent, because you don't. But I can just tell by your voice and the way you talked.
  • Me: ...
  • Him: Asians have this thing about talking very well and very professional. You guys are great!
  • Me: Haha, I'll take that as a compliment, thank you.
  • Him: Are you a manager as well?
  • Me: Yes sir. *I'm talking to him while trying to take another customer's order...and making it obvious that I was busy and kind of weirded out by his odd comment*
  • Him: Ah! See! You're a manager! Most Asians are managers too!
  • Me: Haha...your order is at the last window sir! Have a great day!
  • Him: See you again very soon my Asian friend. *drives off*
  • Me: .....................

More Than Hang Overs

Normally one would wake up on Thanksgiving day to the delicious smells of food being made. At the age of 21, I discovered that the rich aromas is simply disgusting when you’re hung over.

Of course since I turned 21 this past summer of July, I have been discovering much more than hang overs. Actually it wasn’t until Thanksgiving day when I experienced my first real hang over. Too much coffee mixed with Bailey’s and smoking too much hookah can really make a guy tremble.

As the year is coming to a close, I sit here and reflect on how far I have come since my childhood days. Yes, I am still living with my mother. Yes, I have spent 4 years at a community college with no real plans on transferring to a University. Yes, I am working part-time at a McDonald’s. Even though according to society standards I’m not really anyone, reflecting on my accomplishments during this past year alone has been (dare I say it) quite amazing.

With that, I would like to take the time to reflect on the things that has happened in 2010 that has made me become who I am.

  1. I reunited with one of my best friends. - We got over our differences and really grew up. Now I know we’ll never be apart.
  2. I came out as a transman. - Yes, I am transsexual.
  3. I started the process of transitioning itself - This upcoming Thursday I will injecting my 3rd dose of T into my body.
  4. I gave a chance at love again - And even though I lost it, it’s an experience I’m not going to forget.
  5. I picked a major - And this time it’s solid.
  6. I have chose to live healthy again.
  7. I reunited myself with an old passion.

And even sitting here right now staring at my computer screen at 3 in the morning, I know that what I have accomplished/done this year is not the end of it all. There’s still quiet a bit more I believe.

Good Night!
